Russia is stepping up strikes on Ukraine's gas and energy infrastructure ahead of winter, while the international response remains weak, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"Unfortunately, there is no adequate global response to what is happening — to the growing scale and audacity of the attacks," the President said.

He stressed that this is precisely why Russian leader Vladimir Putin continues such actions.

"He is simply mocking the West — its silence and the lack of strong countermeasures. Russia has rejected every proposal to stop the war or even halt the strikes. It is openly trying to destroy our civilian infrastructure. And right now, ahead of winter, it is targeting gas facilities, power generation, and electricity transmission," Zelenskyy explained.

According to him, there is currently "zero real reaction" from the world.

"We will keep fighting to ensure the world does not remain silent — so that Russia feels the consequences," he added.

Foreign components in Russian missiles

The President said Russian missiles and drones contain numerous critical components of foreign origin.

"A single Russian Kinzhal missile contains 96 foreign-made components. Many of them are critical parts that Russia itself does not produce," the Ukrainian leader emphasized.

He added that more than 500 drones launched overnight included over 100,000 foreign components. Suppliers of these parts include companies from:

  • the United States;
  • China;
  • Taiwan;
  • the United Kingdom;
  • Germany,
  • Switzerland;
  • Japan;
  • South Korea;
  • the Netherlands.

Zelenskyy noted that, in the fourth year of full-scale war, it is "strange to hear" that some countries supposedly do not know how to stop the supply of critical parts for Russian military equipment.

Meeting of sanctions coordinators

The President said a meeting of G7 sanctions coordinators is scheduled for next week.

"All our proposals on sanctions and on blocking supply schemes are in place. Our partners have the materials — now we need decisions. We are also preparing new sanctions against those who continue working for Russia, supporting its war, and those trying to weaken Ukraine at this time," Zelenskyy said.

Russia's massive attack on Ukraine

On the night of October 5, Russia carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, with the Lviv region suffering the most damage. The strike involved nearly all types of Russian weaponry.

Besides the western regions, Zaporizhzhia also came under fire. The large-scale attack caused power outages for tens of thousands of people, while parts of the Cherkasy region were left without electricity due to damaged transmission lines. Strikes overnight also hit critical infrastructure in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.

By the morning of October 5, Russian Shahed drones attacked Chernihiv, hitting one of the city's industrial facilities.
