On Sunday evening, June 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet in London with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to DPA and Deutsche Welle.

"According to Downing Street, the Ukrainian leader will visit the United Kingdom on Sunday together with the President of France and the Chancellor of Germany," the report said.

The meeting will focus on continued support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Deutsche Welle reports that the goal of the leaders of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom is to intensify efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine. The parties are expected to discuss prospects for new negotiations with Moscow.

What is known about the meeting

As a reminder, French President Emmanuel Macron recently announced that the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, and Germany would meet with Zelenskyy in the coming days.

According to Bloomberg, the meeting was tentatively scheduled for June 7, although it had been reported that the Ukrainian president's schedule could still change. However, based on the reports cited above, the meeting is indeed taking place.

The new talks are part of renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at finding ways to end the war. The latest push began after Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent an open letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin proposing a resumption of the negotiation process.

According to assessments by London, Paris, and Berlin, Moscow could be pushed toward dialogue in the wake of Ukraine's successful drone strikes inside Russian territory.

In addition, Bloomberg reported that European allies, together with Ukraine, are developing a strategy to bring Russia into peace negotiations before the start of winter.
