The Japanese leader will participate in the UN General Assembly in New York, where he plans to call for UN reforms. He is also likely to emphasize the importance of advancing efforts to ban nuclear weapons.
Kishida will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will be in the US at the same time. It is expected that he will convey Japan's commitment to supporting Kyiv and maintaining sanctions against Russia.
