An EU summit will take place in Brussels to discuss strengthening border security, the energy crisis, and the budget. The first closed-door talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are also scheduled for Friday, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said.

The meeting in Brussels will focus on further strengthening the defense of Europe's external borders and addressing the energy crisis.

In addition, participants will discuss the EU's key seven-year budget, which is essential for the development of Ukraine.

Before the summit begins, a meeting with the prime ministers of the Visegrád Group (a regional alliance of Hungary, Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia) will take place. On Thursday, the politician will attend a coordination meeting of national leaders hosted by the Italian prime minister.

"On Friday morning, I will begin my first official, closed-door talks with the president of Ukraine," Péter Magyar said.

Deputy Prime Minister Bálint Raff will coordinate the government's work until the prime minister returns on Friday evening.

Hungary may soon unblock Ukraine's EU integration process in exchange for changes to legislation concerning national minorities.

However, this understanding was preceded by another period of tension in relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar also stated that Budapest would not supply weapons to Ukraine, despite the gradual warming of relations following the change of government.
