Zelenskyy to G7: You know what we need, and you know we need it timely
The Group of Seven (G7) countries know very well what Ukraine needs today to strengthen its army. Ukraine counts on this assistance to be timely, states Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"You know very well what we need to protect our skies and to strengthen our army on the ground. And you know everything that we need to support and maintain our success in the sea. And you know well that we need all this in a timely manner. We are counting on you," Zelenskyy said.
The President urged the G7 leaders not to forget that imperial ambitions and revanchism disappear only when the one infected with them loses.
"And that’s what always makes room for true security and democratic growth. We keep hearing: history is watching us. And that’s absolutely true," he emphasized, alluding to the words of US President Joe Biden in one of his addresses to Congress.
Zelenskyy added that the G7 leadership is enough to restore security.
G7 meeting on Ukraine
The G7 leaders gathered today for a meeting to mark the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In a joint statement following the meeting, the G7 was expected to call on Russia to "fully and unconditionally withdraw its troops" from Ukraine and pledge to never recognize any elections that Russia holds now or in the future in the occupied territories.
