Over the past day, from August 22 to August 23, the Russians lost 840 soldiers on the front lines, as well as dozens of artillery systems and vehicles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to August 23, 2025, are approximately as follows:

  • Personnel - approximately 1,075,160 (+840) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • Tanks - 11,129 (+5);
  • Troop-carrying AFVs - 23,164 (+4);
  • Artillery systems - 31,858 (+23);
  • MLRS - 1,472;
  • Anti-aircraft systems - 1,210;
  • Aircraft - 422;
  • Helicopters - 340 units;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 52,935 (+148);
  • Cruise missiles - 3,598;
  • Warships/boats - 28;
  • Submarines - 1;
  • Vehicles and fuel tanks - 59,512 (+86);
  • Special equipment - 3,944.

Situation on battlefield

As of 10 p.m. Kyiv time, on August 22, there were 107 combat clashes on the front line during the day. Almost a third of them were in the Pokrovsk direction.

"Russia carried out 30 attacks. Russians tried to advance near the settlements of Nykonorivka, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Rodynske, Bilytske, Sukhyi Yar, Chunishyne, Zvierievo, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, and Dachne," the agency says.
