Zelenskyy to discuss with NATO coalition to intercept missiles over Ukraine
The partners could form a coalition to intercept missiles over Ukraine. This decision will be difficult for them, but Kyiv will work on this issue, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"We have to work out the technical possibilities so that other aviation from neighboring countries can be used against certain missiles that, although they hit Ukraine, are headed towards the Alliance. I think this is a difficult decision for our partners because they are afraid of escalation. But we will work on it," the President said.
According to him, this issue can be discussed in the NATO-Ukraine Council format. Zelenskyy added that he had already instructed Ukrainian diplomats to organize a meeting to discuss this issue with partners.
"It is a great responsibility for one neighboring country to take responsibility and shoot down missiles. Although I think it should have been done a long time ago, I think there is another tool, and I want to try it, for NATO countries to discuss with Ukraine the possibility of such a small coalition of neighboring countries that will shoot down enemy missiles," he explained.
Today, on Air Force Day, Zelenskyy showed off the first F-16 fighters that have already arrived in Ukraine.
It is not yet known how many planes Ukraine has received, but The Times recently reported that Ukraine allegedly received six planes from the Netherlands.
The Economist, on the other hand, claims that the first 10 F-16s have arrived in Ukraine.
