Zelenskyy to discuss Ukraine aid with Trump in upcoming call US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (president.gov.ua)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he will hold a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, which could take place tomorrow or in the coming days, he said at a briefing with EU leaders.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is counting on continued US assistance because there are certain capabilities — above all, Patriot air-defense missiles — that European countries cannot provide.

He added that Ukraine is also relying on its own defense production, which will require additional funding from its partners.

He noted that, thankfully, Ukraine enjoys strong relations with European nations and expressed his hope that he and President Trump might discuss bilateral ties and US support tomorrow or in the coming days.

Rumors of a Trump–Zelenskyy call

On July 3, Politico, citing its own sources, reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump are expected to hold a telephone conversation.

The call is set to take place following Washington's decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, The Financial Times, also citing sources, stated that the conversation is scheduled to happen as early as tomorrow, July 4.
