Zelenskyy says Ukraine has strong results intercepting Shahed UAVs overnight

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on Russia's overnight attack on July 28, reported strong results in drone defense against Shaheds. In his Telegram post, Zelenskyy stated that dozens of Russian UAVs were shot down.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian unmanned systems units, Army and Air Force aviation, anti-aircraft gunners, air defense forces, and mobile fire groups were all actively engaged overnight.
"In total, just in this one night alone, our sky defenders intercepted several hundred Russian attack drones. Our unmanned defenses delivered strong results against Shaheds - dozens of Russian drones were shot down. Several missiles were also intercepted overnight. Unfortunately, not all of them - there were also hits," the Ukrainian President said.
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine continues to strengthen its air defense, and it is crucial for international partners to clearly understand what kind of support the country needs.
"Step by step, we are closing the funding gap for drone production, and I will be holding new talks with partners on this task later this week. Ukraine's Defense Minister and National Security and Defense Council Secretary are also working on this," the statement says.
Ukrainian President also noted that, as of now, eight people have been reported injured due to Russian strikes.
Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing, particularly concerning the power supply.
