The Russian President can only be forced to stop hostilities against Ukraine if Moscow itself comes under threat, rather than because of the situation around Crimea, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Novyny.LIVE.
Crimea will not stop the Kremlin leader
According to the head of state, any claims by Putin about his supposedly "deep attachment" to the temporarily occupied peninsula are completely detached from reality.
"Only Moscow Island, not Crimea, can force Putin to stop hostilities," Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The president emphasized that the Russian President in fact knows neither the situation in Crimea nor what is happening in eastern Ukraine. All his claims that he supposedly loves these regions and needs them are false.
"He knows them only from reports submitted by his officers," the Ukrainian leader added.
Attempt to intimidate due to a lack of victories
Zelenskyy explained that Putin is in urgent need of demonstrating at least some success in order to strengthen support within Russian society. Since there are no real achievements on the battlefield, the Kremlin is trying to pressure Ukraine through intimidation and aggressive statements.
"He needs to sell a major victory to his society. There is no victory. There will be no victory," the president concluded.
Massive attack on Kyiv and the world's response
On the night of July 2, Russia launched another large-scale combined attack against Ukraine, with Kyiv as the primary target. The enemy fired a record 570 aerial attack weapons, including air-, land-, and sea-launched missiles, as well as hundreds of drones.
Although most of the aerial threat was neutralized, the most difficult situation arose due to the penetration of Iskander and Zircon ballistic missiles.
The latest strike on the capital prompted an immediate reaction from the international community. Next week, the European Union plans to urgently approve a new package of sanctions against Russia.
According to the Office of the President, the measures will target companies that support and finance Russia's military-industrial complex.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's leadership assured that Russia would not go unpunished for its actions. During a visit to the site of the strike in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would definitely respond to this combined attack.
