Zelenskyy says he will maintain maximum troop numbers for security

Ukraine does not believe in Russia's desire for peace, so Kyiv will maintain the maximum number of troops. This will serve as a security guarantee, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"We have different views on the numbers. And you know, with every agreement, there can be different perspectives. The main thing is that we move towards positivity, towards peace - a sustainable and just peace. Towards results, in any case. Although, I emphasize, no matter what, we don't believe the Russians want anything peaceful," he said.
The President stressed that Ukraine trusts its army, and "this will be one of the main security guarantees."
"Therefore, I will maintain, in any case, the numerical strength, the maximum numerical strength required for Ukraine to defend its interests," Zelenskyy concluded.
The question of reducing Ukraine's army
In mid-January, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the size of the Ukrainian army is 880,000 personnel, while the Russian army is about 600,000.
At the same time, the President noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin would likely demand a significant reduction in the size of the Ukrainian army, but Ukrainian authorities would not allow this.
Additionally, Zelenskyy recently emphasized that funding the army of at least 800,000 soldiers, especially while Ukraine is not yet a NATO member, is one of the key guarantees of security.
