Zelenskyy says 30-day ceasefire may not be enough for peace deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the 30-day ceasefire regime is just the first step toward reaching an agreement on further actions. This is sufficient for Ukraine, but there are no guarantees that it will be enough for Russia.
"A ceasefire regime or a silence regime are the same thing. This ceasefire or silence regime is currently proposed for 30 days. It’s hard for me to say what will happen next because this is a period during which we need to agree on the next steps. In principle, that's all. I have nothing more to add," said Zelenskyy.
He explained that this period would be enough for Ukraine but could not say the same for others.
"I think if this is the first step, I can’t be sure that 30 days will be enough. I believe it will be enough on our side. But when we have three parties, and we want four parties, with Europe included, maybe it won’t be 30 days. It may take a little longer. But it is important that there is a clear timeline in the ceasefire agreement, as this will limit the opportunities for the Russians to turn this into a frozen conflict," the president explained.
Russia-Ukraine ceasefire
Recently, Ukraine accepted the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. On March 13, US officials began discussions on the issue with the Russian side. However, Moscow has yet to provide a definitive response.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed concerns over the nuances. This includes the presence of Ukrainian fighters in the Kursk region, as well as the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
Notably, the US has already threatened to impose the harshest sanctions on Russia if it refuses to end the war.
