Ukraine has the opportunity to end the full-scale war this year. The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, also wishes for the conflict to end, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says during an interview with Polish media.

"Yes, there is (an opportunity to end the war in 2025 – ed.). Trump wants to end the war. These are his messages, both public and private. He is capable of putting pressure on Russia. I am confident that Russia fears America and China. And it fears a united Europe," the President stated.

Europe cannot fight Russia without Ukraine

According to Zelenskyy, in terms of military strength, Europe cannot resist Russia without Ukrainian soldiers, as the enemy's army is larger than that of the EU member states.

In particular, the occupying country has more weapons and audacity. Europeans, on the other hand, are more civilized and not accustomed to such tactics, whereas Russia has experience, which President Vladimir Putin understands well.

Security guarantees for Ukraine

"When you ask if we can stop this year – we must do everything. Today we have America – a strong partner, we have the EU, which has become stronger," the President explained.

Zelensky added that the EU needs to be more pragmatic and increase its weapons production by 2-3 times. This is important so that Russia understands that Europe is armed and capable of defending itself. This is how Putin should be "taught a lesson."

Trump, in particular, is the leader who could force the Russian President to engage in diplomacy. Ukraine, for its part, must negotiate with the Republican about security guarantees.

"But I believe that Trump is capable of offering Ukraine real security guarantees," Zelenskyy added.

End of war in Ukraine

Recently, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the current administration is preparing the strongest possible position for Trump regarding Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Trump's national security advisor, Mike Waltz, believes that the full-scale war will end through diplomacy, but first, a ceasefire must be achieved.

According to Pentagon chief candidate Pete Hegseth, the Trump administration seeks an 'as advantageous as possible' end to the war for Ukraine.
