Zelenskyy: Russian cities don’t have such strong air defense as near Putin's summer residences
Ukraine knows where Russian air defense is located. Ordinary Russian cities do not have air defense as powerful as the one near Russian President Vladimir Putin's summer cottages, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with Indian media.
The head of state emphasizes that Ukraine is aware of the peculiarities of Russian air defense, as it strikes at airbases and energy.
“Putin occupies us and does not think about his territories, and we are well aware that this is true. Because we know the air defense in Russia, we are now striking at their energy sector, at their military airbases. We know where they have air defense and where they don't. Just so you know, there are air defenses around Putin's dachas, around Moscow, and in St. Petersburg, but there are no air defenses in ordinary towns and cities, in the Kursk region, where we quickly went. Yes, they have their military there, but they do not have such powerful air defense as around Putin's home,” the president said.
Zelenskyy stresses that Putin cannot keep his territories, so he “must start feeling this war.”
Ukraine's operation in Kursk region
For almost three weeks, Ukrainian forces have been conducting an offensive in the Kursk region of Russia. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to advance tens of kilometers into Russia and take control of several settlements. Ukraine controls the town of Sudzha, where Russia has a station that supplies gas to Europe.
Ukraine has established a military commandant's office in the Kursk region and is preparing a corridor for the evacuation of civilians.
As President Zelenskyy explained, one of the goals of the Kursk operation was to replenish the exchange fund of POWs. Ukraine also took preventive measures and prevented a Russian offensive in the Sumy region.
