Zelenskyy outlines goals of Ukrainian operation in Kursk region of Russia
The Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region of Russia is complex, but it is going according to plan and is bearing fruit, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference in Kyiv.
“The operation is complex. The important thing is that it is going according to our plan. There are important results of this operation. I can't talk about everything,” the president said.
He mentioned the exchange fund, which is largely replenished thanks to a successful operation in the Kursk region.
“First of all, the exchange fund is being replenished, which is a positive thing. The second is the stopping of the Russian operation in the north, a preventive strike. Our operation has fulfilled this task,” he said.
The Kursk operation prevented the Russian offensive in the Sumy region, he said.
“We prevented the encirclement of a part of the Sumy region and the desire to occupy Sumy. Someone said that we are playing this as a card for a dialog. We are not playing any card,” Zelenskyy stressed.
He adds all the goals set by Ukraine will be achieved.
“As for all the goals of the operation, I believe that they will all be achieved. There are more of them than I have publicly announced,” he summarized.
Operation in Kursk region
A few weeks ago, fighting began in the Kursk region. Russian media claimed that the Ukrainian military had begun to break through into the territory of Russia.
For a long time, the Ukrainian side remained neutral and did not comment on the events in the Kursk region. But a week later, Zelenskyy said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had indeed entered Russia and had largely replenished the exchange fund. Ukraine's army is already in control of more than 90 settlements in Russia.
It seems the Russian authorities do not care much about the lives of their citizens, as during all this time, they have not even appealed to Ukraine or international organizations to create a humanitarian corridor.
