Zelenskyy: Russia launched at least 1,961 Shahed drones over Ukraine
Russia launches at least 1,961 Shahed drones over Ukrainian territory during the full-scale invasion, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He says that a significant number of enemy drones were successfully shot down by Ukrainian Air Defense forces.
"Unfortunately, not all were intercepted. We are working to shoot down more, to maximize interceptions. We are working to increase the number of Air Defense systems," the Ukrainian leader added.
The President has instructed Ukrainian ambassadors to intensify efforts in bolstering the country's air defense systems.
"We all must work towards victory, protecting lives, people, and defending our beautiful Ukraine! We will definitely prevail," emphasized Zelenskyy.
He also expressed gratitude to the soldiers of the Izmail Border Guard unit, who, along with naval units, are countering the Russian Shahed attacks.
Attack on Izmail
On August 2, Russian occupiers launched another attack on Ukraine using Shahed kamikaze drones. The southern region of the Odesa region, including the city of Izmail, was among the areas targeted.
The enemy struck Izmail, a city housing a riverport. The attack caused damage to the maritime terminal and infrastructure of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company, a critical Ukrainian cargo carrier on the Danube River.
Overall, during the night, the Russian attacks resulted in damage to approximately 40,000 tons of grain.
