Zelenskyy: Russia delays promised memo, repeats same old ultimatums

Ukraine and the world have been waiting for a Russian-promised memorandum on a ceasefire for over a week. Yet, Russia is repeating old ultimatums, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin.
Zelenskyy's statement
Today, during his visit to Germany, Zelenskyy reminded that the world has been waiting for the promised memorandum from Russia for more than a week.
“The world has been waiting for more than a week for the Russians to finalize their so-called memorandum on what they need to stop killing people. Everyone is waiting. They have not come up with anything new so far, and they are throwing repetitions of their old ultimatums into the information space,” he said.
The president said that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov had called the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky.
“They said it would be, it would be, but we've never seen it. Nobody has. We asked the United States of America. They were also waiting. Everyone was waiting. Maybe we shouldn't wait any longer. We need to take more serious steps,” Zelenskyy summarized.
Russia promised a memorandum
After the talks in Istanbul on May 16, Russia said that the parties had agreed to put their vision of a possible ceasefire in writing.
Subsequently, Russian leader Vladimir Putin, after speaking with US President Donald Trump, announced the preparation of a memorandum that would address a possible future peace treaty.
The Russian foreign ministry recently reported that the document would specify possible dates for the end of the war and the memorandum is allegedly nearing completion.
The Office of the President of Ukraine warns that Russia may include unacceptable conditions in this document, including those that provide for the loss of Ukraine's sovereignty.
