There is currently a slowdown in the Coalition of the Willing. This happened because Europe has not yet decided on its full stance toward Ukraine without the US, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a conversation with journalists on June 13.

"Strong, sharp steps from President Donald Trump are needed. They are needed because there will be no ceasefire. The slowdown of the Coalition of the Willing is happening, and here I agree with you. Do you know why the slowdown is happening? It is not because they are tired or turning away, no. This situation showed that Europe has not yet decided for itself what it will do with Ukraine fully if there is no America. That is what is happening," Zelenskyy said.

He explained that when Europeans approached the creation of the Coalition of the Willing with energy, they saw that such energy was lacking in the United States.

"Or it is not the same as theirs. Then they began to wonder if they had enough strength. When Europeans think for a long time, they talk a lot among themselves. Doubts start to emerge. Why is Trump's role important? For us, it is important that Trump stops Putin with sanctions and other steps. That will send a signal to all of Europe. Everyone will unite, and we will have a chance. If Trump does not impose sanctions and does not take steps against Russia, I will be honest with you — it will be very difficult for us," the Ukrainian President explained.

Zelenskyy emphasized that this would also be a signal to Europe, which would then have to increase aid to Ukraine.

"That is why it is so important to fight for America's certainty to stop Putin, who is not yet willing to end the war. The economy can also catch up to him. And it will catch up," he added.

Coalition of the Willing

In early April, a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing took place in Kyiv. This group comprises countries that have pledged to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

The coalition's formation was announced on March 2 by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Following the coalition meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said French and British troops would be among the first to arrive in Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, these countries are the main representatives of the European continent.
