The presidents of Ukraine and the United States discussed the production of Patriot interceptor missiles, efforts to speed up the negotiation process, and other issues during their meeting, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"A good meeting with President Trump at the Oval Office. Thank you for everything we do together to protect the lives of Ukrainians and advance peace," the Ukrainian leader said.

He added that he expressed condolences to the US president over the death of Senator Lindsey Graham and noted that he "was a true friend of Ukraine."

"The President and I discussed licenses for Patriot interceptor production and several other ideas that could help. We also spoke about diplomacy – it’s important that the diplomatic process be reinvigorated," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The Ukrainian president said that the teams of Ukraine and the United States would coordinate the details of further communication.

Earlier, the Financial Times reported that the meeting between the Ukrainian and US presidents could revive talks on ending the war. It could also open up prospects for Ukraine to receive additional military assistance.

It is worth noting that Donald Trump has recently shown a much more favorable attitude toward Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to media reports, this shift was influenced by both events and specific individuals.

The previous meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump took place on July 8 on the sidelines of the NATO summit. After the talks, the US president said Washington could allow Ukraine to establish production of interceptors for Patriot air defense systems.
