Zelenskyy reveals timeline for launch of Ukraine's anti-ballistic defense system

Approximate timelines for the Freyja anti-ballistic project are now known. Ukraine is expected to be able to protect itself with a domestically developed system, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy sets timeline for Freyja
Speaking at a meeting of the newly established anti-ballistic missile coalition on July 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed optimism about the Freyja project.
"I hope that within the next 12 months, we will see Freyja in operation," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that the threat posed by ballistic missiles is likely to continue growing worldwide, which he views as one of the key consequences of the wars waged by Russia and Iran.
"That is why Freyja must become a reality," Zelenskyy added.
What is known about Ukraine's anti-ballistic system
Fire Point recently unveiled footage of its FP-7.x anti-ballistic missile. The Freyja system could become operational by the end of 2026. The missile features a cylindrical body with a nose cone and relatively small movable stabilizers in its lower section.
During the presentation, Fire Point also revealed the broader concept behind Freyja. The system is envisioned as a pan-European anti-ballistic shield that would be jointly owned by partner countries.
Fire Point conducted the first test of the FP-7.X missile in June. The interceptor is expected to serve as the foundation of the Freyja anti-ballistic defense system.
On July 13, the leaders of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom signed a joint declaration establishing the Integrated Missile Defense Coalition.
