Zelenskyy reveals details of recent US contacts and possible meeting with Trump

Umerov held talks with Kushner
Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (RNBO) Rustem Umerov and Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, held talks.
The meeting took place within the past two days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters at the site of the Russian strike in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district.
The head of state also said he is still expecting US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to visit Ukraine.
Zelenskyy plans to meet Trump
Zelenskyy added that he hopes to meet Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye, next week.
The key event for support of Ukraine is scheduled to take place on July 7-8. A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of foreign ministers is currently planned in the format of a working dinner.
Earlier, Zelenskyy said that the issue of providing Ukraine with air defense systems should be one of the key outcomes of the NATO summit. Ukraine has been holding talks with the US administration for some time regarding licenses to produce Patriot air defense systems.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that representatives of Trump's team are working toward a peace agreement. These include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy and businessman Jared Kushner.
On June 8, Zelenskyy and Trump's envoys discussed the peace process. According to the Ukrainian president, the conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner was very positive.
