Zelenskyy responds to Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih on January 17. On his Facebook page, the Ukrainian leader stated that the Russians struck the city with ballistic missiles.
The President emphasized that residential buildings, an educational institution, and other city infrastructure were damaged in the attack. Rescue workers and emergency services are currently on the scene, and a rescue operation is ongoing.
"Unfortunately, there are fatalities. As of now, it is known that this attack has claimed four lives. My condolences to their families and loved ones," said the President.
Zelenskyy added that each such terrorist attack serves as another reminder of who Ukrainians are dealing with.
"Russia does not stop on its own – it can only be stopped through joint pressure. Pressure from everyone in the world who values life," the Ukrainian leader said.
The Prosecutor General's Office reported that they had launched an investigation into the missile strike on Kryvyi Rih (Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Law enforcement notes that as of 2:00 p.m. Kyiv time, four dead victims were confirmed. Another six people were injured.
Strike on Kryvyi Rih
On the afternoon of January 17, Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih. According to the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, the Russian attack damaged an educational institution and residential buildings.
Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that a four-story educational building was partially destroyed. In addition, two apartment buildings and an outbuilding were damaged. A fire broke out on the fourth floor of one of the buildings.
Preliminary reports indicate that four people were killed in the shelling. Six others were injured, with at least three of them in critical condition.
