Zelenskyy responds on whether Ukraine and US discussed anti-Russian sanctions for truce violations

At the meeting in Jeddah, Ukraine and the United States discussed “all topics,” but only point by point. It will be up to the American side to impose sanctions or other steps to pressure Russia, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a briefing in response to an RBC-Ukraine correspondent.
“We discussed all the topics, but they were discussed point by point and it is too early to talk about it. The American side wanted the Ukrainian side to demonstrate its readiness to take quick steps to end the war, and then, if the Ukrainian side demonstrated that, the American side gave us its word that it would resume assistance, and it did,” the president said.
As for sanctions or other steps to pressure Russia, it will depend on the United States and after its dialogue with the Russians.
“If I understand this correctly (steps of peace through strength - ed.), it will be exactly like this. If the Russians demonstrate that they are ready to accept America's proposal, I think there will be appropriate decisions, and if they are not ready, we very much hope that the American side will demonstrate exactly what it said,” Zelenskyy said.
Ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia
Yesterday, March 11, the delegations of Ukraine and the United States held talks in Saudi Arabia. A joint statement after the meeting proposed a ceasefire across the entire territory for 30 days.
Ukraine agreed to this proposal from the American side. Before that, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a truce in the air and at sea.
RBC-Ukraine's sources said that the idea of a possible ceasefire across the entire territory was worked out directly at the talks in Jeddah.
As the president explained, Ukraine agreed to a 30-day silence to demonstrate its desire to end the war.
The US is currently awaiting contact with representatives of Russia regarding its proposal.
