Zelenskyy rebukes China: Calling for peace does not stop it from talking to Putin about longevity

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Beijing has the power to compel Russia to end the war. However, the world does not see any willingness on China’s part to make Russia stop killing.
"China probably can make the Russians stop killing. But the world has not seen any willingness on China’s part to implement this. China called for a ceasefire and for the war not to expand, but Putin did nothing," Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, this does not prevent China from "warmly welcoming the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and talking with him about the most important thing — longevity."
"Perhaps Putin has some respect for India; his words seem to indicate that. But India’s calls to end the war and statements that our century is not a time for war were also ignored by Russia," Zelenskyy added.
He emphasized that this applies to everyone in the world. Whoever it may be, the Russians do not stop killing.
"But how long can America and Trump’s attention remain focused on this war and the need to end it? How long will the US continue supporting our defense against Russian attacks? Will the world turn a blind eye to the fact that Putin wants to keep fighting? And he does. I do not doubt that Putin sought answers to these and other similar questions. The fact that he chose to continue the war clearly shows his answer," Zelenskyy said.
The head of state stressed that Putin does not believe in America, Europe, or the West, which is why Russia is at war.
"Putin believes in China, Iran, and North Korea, and that is why he seeks strategic deals there. Putin is betting that money can undermine everything. He believes that money will allow him to buy forgiveness for everything. Essentially, that is his plan: to try to buy forgiveness while continuing the war. The main question is — who will be the buyer?" the president added.
China’s stance on the war in Ukraine
China has not condemned Russia for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and continues global cooperation with the aggressor state.
Official Beijing cautiously comments on Putin’s war against Ukrainians, repeatedly calling on "both" sides for "dialogue" and the resolution of the "conflict." This is how China refers to Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine.
China’s support for the Russian economy fuels its military machine. Moreover, according to The Times, Putin’s confidence may have sharply increased after his meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, where they discussed prospects for cooperation and longevity. This took place during a lavish parade in China, where the dictator was on a four-day visit.
Western media note that this strengthened the Kremlin chief’s resolve to launch a new phase of the war against Ukraine. Evidence of this could be the attack on the Cabinet building in central Kyiv during one of the largest strikes since the beginning of the war.
