Late at night, on August 24, Russia launched a missile attack on the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, resulting in a death and injuries. For this, the world must continue to put pressure on the terrorist state, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“And for all this, the world must not stop putting pressure on the terrorist state. For the missile strikes, for the bombs, for the assaults. In general, for this whole war. Russia must be forced to seek peace,” the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy clarified that seven people were injured and one person died as a result of the Russian missile strike. These were citizens of Ukraine, America, and Britain. Among the victims were journalists from Reuters.

“An ordinary city hotel was destroyed by the Russian Iskander,” the head of state said.

Strike on a hotel in Kramatorsk

On August 24, 2024, at 22:35, the Russians fired a missile at the city of Kramatorsk. The enemy fired an Iskander missile, hitting the Sapphire Hotel.

The Donetsk prosecutor's office reported six injured as a result of the attack. Four foreign media journalists aged 38, 40, 41, and 46 sustained mine-blast injuries, brain contusion, a broken leg, cut wounds, and bruises. Among the victims are two women aged 32 and 34 who were in their homes at the time of the attack.

However, as of now, seven people have been injured.

The body of a British citizen who was killed by Russian shelling was unblocked from the rubble of the Sapphire Hotel.

According to Reuters, six journalists from their agency were in the hotel at the time of the attack. One of the employees is considered missing. In this regard, there is speculation that the deceased person may be a Reuters journalist.
