On the night of August 25, Russians launched a missile attack on the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk. Six civilians were wounded in the attack, and one person was killed, who may have been a journalist, according to the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.

According to the prosecutor's office, the body of a British citizen who was killed in a missile attack by the Russian military has been unblocked from the rubble of a destroyed hotel in Kramatorsk. In addition, six people sustained injuries of varying severity.

“As a reminder, on August 24, 2024, at 22:35, Russian troops attacked the city, probably with an Iskander-M missile. On the territory of the destroyed hotel, 4 foreign media journalists aged 38, 40, 41, and 46 were injured,” the statement said.

It is noted that the men suffered mine-blast injuries, brain contusions, a broken leg, cut wounds, and bruises.

In addition, 32- and 34-year-old women who were in their homes at the time of the enemy attack were injured.

“Under the procedural control of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the prosecutor's office said.

Deceased may be journalist

The Reuters news agency reported on six of its journalists who were in the hotel that was hit by Russia. One of them was considered missing. Therefore, it is likely that the dead person could be a Reuters journalist.
