Ukraine has made proposals to both key partners and "friends" of the Russian President regarding the possibility of a meeting and an end to the full-scale war, according to a statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Ukraine has made proposals to both key partners and to Putin’s friends (Russian President Vladimir Putin, – ed.). We have said that a meeting is possible and that ending this war is possible. Russia must take this step toward peace," the head of state said.
The president stressed that Ukrainian forces demonstrate the power of Ukrainian precision every day. Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine’s "long-range sanctions" and "medium-range sanctions" are being fully implemented.
"These are our just responses to Russia for this war — a war that Russia started and must end. Russia must take this war away from Ukraine — we do not need it," he said.
On June 24, Zelenskyy stated that if Ukraine receives what it discussed with partners during the G7 summit, conditions will be created that will force the aggressor country to choose peace.
Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the aggressor state is allegedly ready to resume negotiations with Ukraine from the point where the two countries previously stopped.
Meanwhile, FSB Director Alexandr Bortnikov called the Ukrainian president a "terrorist," but at the same time claimed that "there is currently no one in Ukraine, except Zelenskyy, with whom one could talk."
At the same time, the Russian President first stated that there were allegedly no preconditions for negotiations with Ukraine. However, just a few hours later, he said that Moscow was ready to hold talks with Kyiv based on the agreements reached in Istanbul.
