Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin hopes to use terror to break Ukraine's resistance. But this cannot be allowed to happen — a decision on the supply of air defense systems and missiles needs to come in the near future, says President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his address to the 71st annual session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

He noted that the war in the Middle East is finally coming to an end, so that after so many casualties, there is a real chance for peace. However, Russia's war in Europe remains the greatest source of global instability.

"Putin can be forced into peace – just like any other terrorist. Even Hamas is now preparing to release hostages. If that is possible, then Putin can also be forced to restore peace," Zelenskyy said.

By stopping Russia now, he says, NATO countries will not only help themselves but also relieve their leaders of the need to do what Zelenskyy is doing.

“Before winter, Putin hopes to use this terror to break our resistance. We must not let that happen. So, I urge you to advocate in your parliaments and governments for stronger air defenses and the missiles we need. And the decisions are needed in the coming weeks on both systems and missiles,” Zelenskyy said.

He also recalled that yesterday he discussed with US President Donald Trump the Patriot systems, Tomahawk missiles, the energy equipment Ukraine needs, and the need to stop partners from buying Russian oil.

“Even if Hungarian guys claim it helps their election chances, in the long run, it undermines their country's security and Europe's. For Putin, every billion matters. You cannot be part of the free world and at the same time fund those who want to destroy it,” the president stressed.

Tomahawk for Ukraine

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the decision to transfer Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine had already been made. Zelenskyy responded by expressing hope that receiving these missiles would force Russia to “sober up” and agree to negotiations.

Russia reacted emotionally to this statement, calling it a “serious blow” to Russian-American relations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that the transfer of Tomahawks to Ukraine could allegedly lead to a “new round of escalation” because these missiles “may have nuclear capabilities.”

Putin said that Russia plans to strengthen its air defense systems amid reports from the US about the transfer of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
