Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to coordinate positions with European leaders on ending Russia's war against Ukraine. Meetings are being prepared for this purpose, according to the president's evening address.

According to him, all partners clearly understand that it is Russia that must take steps toward ending the war and agree to a ceasefire and real diplomacy.

Zelenskyy added that Western countries share the understanding that Russia's war against Ukraine is a war in Europe and against Europe. And all decisions regarding the end of the war and security guarantees concern all of Europe.

"That is why Europe's voice must influence the process. We are coordinating with our European leaders regarding our conversations and our meetings to align all positions, as well as each of our roles in engaging with other leaders, so that Europe's stance is protected. We are planning several meetings on the continent," the president noted.

Peace talks may take place without Europe

The New York Times earlier reported, citing sources, that US President Donald Trump wants to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.

After that, the US president expects a trilateral meeting involving Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Sources told the outlet that Trump's plan does not include participation by European leaders in the negotiations.

The European Commission has already responded to these rumors. As stated by European Commission Deputy Chief Spokesperson Arianna Podestà, it is too early to speak about the format of peace talks, as nothing has been decided yet.
