Zelenskyy outlines current needs of Armed Forces, identifies top priority
Russia, through its massive shelling, is attempting to break the spirit of the Ukrainian people. Therefore, the number one priority for President Zelenskyy is to strengthen air defense systems and arm Ukraine, according to the evening address of the Ukrainian leader.
"Our defenders of the sky are doing everything possible to protect the state. The entire team of our diplomats, everyone responsible for communication with partners, Ukrainian representatives abroad are giving one hundred percent effort to ensure the supply of additional air defense systems and missiles to them," said Zelenskyy.
According to the President, strengthening air defense and increasing the number of missiles is the top priority. Another primary goal is to provide new support packages for the soldiers.
"Artillery, including caliber 155, electronic warfare means, new drones, and other necessities. Grateful to all our partners who are already forming new support packages. There will be a lot of relevant communication this month," emphasized Zelenskyy.
Massive shelling of Ukraine
On January 2, Russian occupiers repeated a large-scale shelling similar to that of December 29. Initially, the Russians released 35 kamikaze drones, all of which were successfully intercepted. Following that, 99 missiles of various types were launched across Ukraine.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, reported that air defense forces successfully intercepted 72 missiles, including all 10 Kinzhals. The primary targets of the enemy were Kyiv and Kharkiv. Three missile impacts were recorded in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv.
