The Ukrainian forces have done a lot to strengthen the protection of cities against Russian drones. However, it is still not enough, especially in critical directions, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy noted that he had separate talks with the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, and regional leaders regarding protection against Russian Shahed drones.

"The defense lines and positions have already been significantly reinforced, crews and drone supplies are being added. But it is still not enough, particularly in critical directions, including Zaporizhzhia and other regions," he said.

The President added that he had set a clear task: to strengthen the protection of energy infrastructure and all forms of critical infrastructure protection against Russian attacks.

On January 30, Zelenskyy announced that he had ordered the enhancement of anti-drone defense in frontline cities to prevent the Russians from carrying out "safari" against civilians.

In line with these tasks, Colonel Yevhen Khlebnikov has been appointed commander of the short-range air defense direction. He will work under the leadership of Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Pavlo Yelizarov ("Lazar"), whose appointment Zelenskyy approved on January 19.
