Zelenskyy: Only Trump can stop Putin — but he must hit him in the wallet

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an interview with Newsmax, said that a warm dialogue between the US and Russia will not stop President Vladimir Putin. Strong sanctions are needed for that.
Ukrainian President believes that only US President Donald Trump can stop Putin. But for that to happen, Putin must lose money.
"The dialogue between America and the Russians feels like a warm conversation. I don’t believe that this kind of attitude can stop Putin. On the contrary, he likes it. And I believe there must be a change in tone because Putin needs to understand that America will help Ukraine. And sanctions are one thing. The second is support for our army," Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy also stated that any signals about reducing aid or attempts to equate Ukraine and Russia are deeply unfair. He reminded that Russia is the aggressor. It is Russia that started the war and does not want to end it.
In his view, the world must send a clear signal: if Putin refuses to stop the war, he will face the strongest possible sanctions.
"Russia cannot be stopped by words alone. It is like a train moving at high speed with no one at the wheel. Putin has radicalized his society through propaganda. People have literally been filled with hatred toward NATO, the US, and the West," Zelenskyy added.
Trump and Putin's conversation
As a reminder, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin last spoke by phone on June 4. This happened after a historic attack by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) on Russian airfields and the second round of Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul.
According to the US president, Putin reportedly told him that he would be "forced to respond" to the Ukrainian attack that destroyed Russian aircraft. Later, the Kremlin confirmed that Putin warned Trump about Moscow's response.
Recently, Trump stated that his conversation with Putin was "good," but so far, it has not yielded any results.
