The Kremlin has confirmed that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin "warned" US President Donald Trump about Moscow’s response to Ukraine’s Operation Spiderweb, according to the press secretary of the Russian leader, Dmitry Peskov.

Responding to a question on whether Putin really told Trump that Russia would respond to the attacks, Peskov replied: “Yes, indeed.”

Peskov added that Russia “will respond to the attack on the airfields at the time and in the way that the military deems appropriate.”

The Russian leader’s press secretary also said that during the conversation with Putin, Trump stated he was not aware of the plans to prepare the SBU’s Operation Spiderweb, which resulted in hits on Russian strategic aviation aircraft. But the Kremlin stated they would like to hear words of condemnation from the American president.

“If we speak generally about international reaction, of course, we would like to hear a strong condemnation,” said Peskov.

The conversation between Trump and Putin

US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation yesterday, June 4. Trump reported this on Truth Social, although he later deleted the post and re-uploaded it again unchanged.

As the American president noted, Putin allegedly told him that he was “forced to respond” to the Ukrainian attack, which resulted in the destruction of Russian aircraft.

Operation Spiderweb

On Sunday, June 1, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted a large-scale special operation under the name Spiderweb. On Russian territory, strikes were carried out on four military airfields: Belaya, Dyagilevo, Olenya, and Ivanovo.

As a result of the FPV drone attack, at least 41 strategic aircraft of the Russian Federation were hit, including Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and A-50. The SBU stated this is a third of Russia’s entire strategic fleet.

The total losses of the aggressor were estimated at $7 billion — this is the largest aviation strike on Russia since the beginning of the full-scale war.
