Consultations on achieving peace will take place between Ukraine and its partners. And the Ukrainian delegation knows how to protect the interests of our country and prevent a new Russian invasion, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his video address.
"Our representatives know how to defend Ukrainian national interests and what exactly is needed so that Russia does not carry out a third invasion, yet another strike against Ukraine — just as it has repeated crimes against our people and against other nations in the past," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy informed that he signed a decree on the composition of the delegation and approved all relevant directives.
He also emphasized that right now the issue is much bigger than certain points of one document or another.
In particular, he stressed that it is necessary to ensure that nowhere in Europe or the world prevails the notion that crimes against people and humanity, against states and nations, can receive some kind of reward or forgiveness.
"Real peace is always based on guaranteed security and on justice. And this is not only my feeling – I know this is the feeling of millions of our people and the majority of people in the world," Zelenskyy concluded.
US peace plan and Ukraine’s plans with Europe
Recently, it became known that the United States developed a new "peace plan" to end the war in Ukraine. It consists of 28 points but includes highly controversial provisions.
According to what appeared in the media, Ukraine must withdraw from Donbas, reduce its army, give up long-range weapons, and more. In exchange, the country would receive security guarantees roughly equivalent to those of NATO.
As is known, Kyiv has until November 27 to accept this decision. Yesterday, US President Donald Trump said that Zelenskyy must agree to the plan, or if he does not like it – Ukraine will have to continue fighting.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg reported that Zelenskyy, together with European leaders, is trying to revise the terms of the US peace plan to be fair to Kyiv.
Also, NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov announced today that in the coming days, high-ranking officials of Ukraine and the United States will hold consultations in Switzerland regarding the future agreement with Russia.
