It is difficult to predict the power supply situation in the near future amid ongoing Russian attacks, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof.

Commenting on Russia’s strikes on energy facilities, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine must be prepared for anything.

In particular, he said that Russia will do everything to prevent Ukraine from producing its own gas, and it will be difficult to protect all facilities completely.

According to the President, the government has been tasked with allocating funds for gas imports to meet the needs of Ukrainians. The authorities already know approximately how much will be required.

"What will happen with electricity? It's hard for me to say today. We will be ready to respond to all challenges. We work on this every day. We will defend ourselves, we will fight. Russians must know that step by step, we will increase production of everything necessary so that they also feel what we feel," he said.

Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy system

Last week, Russian forces launched a series of strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

In particular, after the attacks in the Chernihiv region, more than 300,000 consumers were left without electricity. Power outage schedules have been introduced in the region.

The Chornobyl nuclear power plant also experienced a blackout following a Russian attack.
