In an interview with Fox News, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the support of the American people, President Donald Trump, and Congress. This was his response to the White House leader’s request for an apology regarding his behavior during negotiations in the Oval Office.

Zelenskyy expressed his appreciation for the American people, the US President, and bipartisan support in Congress when asked whether he believed he had offended Trump and should apologize.

Regarding the controversial talks with Trump, the President stated: "I am not sure we did something bad (during the meeting with Trump – ed.). But maybe some things should be discussed without media."

Controversial Zelenskyy-Trump talks

On Friday, February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began an official visit to the US.

During negotiations with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, at the White House, a dispute arose between the leaders over the prospects of signing a peace agreement and ending the war in Ukraine.

Trump stated that Ukraine was incapable of winning the war, that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were running out of soldiers, and that Kyiv should cease fire. The US President also expressed his desire to end the war and threatened to reduce arms supplies to Ukraine.

Trump demanded that Zelenskyy sign a peace agreement with Russia; otherwise, the US would withdraw from the process. However, Zelenskyy responded that it was extremely difficult and not easy since Putin does not abide by signed agreements.

Afterward, the Ukrainian president left the White House prematurely. The planned signing of an agreement on rare earth resource control did not take place.

According to media reports, the US may halt all military aid to Ukraine.
