Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with The Sun that talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia on ending the war could take place on November 10.
The talks were initially scheduled for the end of next month. However, according to Zelenskyy, the meeting could take place as early as November 10.
The president said Kyiv wants negotiations to begin as soon as possible and had proposed holding the meeting this Sunday. However, he decided to wait until voting in the United States was over.
The summit is expected to be led by the US delegation in Abu Dhabi. It would be the first face-to-face round of talks since US President Donald Trump eased sanctions against Russia.
On Tuesday, October 27, the leaders of Finland and Norway called Russian leader Vladimir Putin to urge him to end the war in Ukraine.
Before the calls, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre held consultations with Ukraine to convey Kyiv’s position ahead of the planned peace talks in Abu Dhabi.
Later, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia were tentatively scheduled for November 4 in the United Arab Emirates.
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine would like to meet with the US and Russian teams in Abu Dhabi before joint talks involving the United States, China, and Russia.
