Currently, Ukraine meets one-third of its weapons needs domestically. Less than a third is supplied by Europe, and about 40% comes from the United States, according to an interview with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Polish media.

When asked if he was disappointed by the gradual military aid model from the US under Joe Biden, Zelenskyy responded that Biden could not act alone.

"Today, 33-34% of the weapons in Ukraine are domestically produced. Less than 30% come from Europe, and the US provides about 40%. That’s roughly how it looks. I am grateful for what Biden did. You know how American politics work: the president cannot do everything alone, and you know what happened in Congress (referring to the blocking of the multi-billion-dollar package at the beginning of 2024 - ed.)," he noted.

According to him, the alliance between Europe and the US has been very helpful to Ukraine.

"But I won’t say how much, for example, we are lacking in air defense systems or why we can’t get more Patriot systems from the US. I really can’t understand that. Maybe I don’t know something, but I know that, unfortunately, people are dying," Zelenskyy added.

Zelenskyy previously revealed the current size of the Ukrainian army. According to him, it stands at 880,000 personnel, while there are about 600,000 Russian troops in Ukraine. The enemy has a numerical advantage on certain sections of the front, primarily concentrated in the east, while the Defense Forces are protecting all of Ukraine.

Additionally, today the president addressed questions about the potential deployment of foreign contingents in Ukraine. This idea is currently being discussed in broad terms with France and the Baltic countries, and it is expected that the deployment of such forces will be discussed with the United Kingdom in the near future.

Zelenskyy claims that the Western military contingent could only be part of Ukraine's security guarantees.
