Zelenskyy names four countries opposing Ukraine's NATO membership

Most European leaders support Ukraine's NATO membership, with the exception of Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, and the United States, the Turkish news agency Anadolu reports, citing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"However, the US factor plays a significant role in influencing these opinions," President Zelenskyy said to journalists at Ankara Airport after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Zelenskyy also highlighted President Erdogan's support for Ukraine’s future NATO membership.
"If NATO is not an option, what security guarantees are we talking about?” the Ukrainian President said, while also emphasizing that his country has a strong army, but there is a constant need for weapons and money to support it.
Noting that Ukraine also needs economic security guarantees, Zelenskyy stated that “for this, we must join a big market like the European Union.”
Earlier, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth stated at a Ramstein-format meeting that the US does not view Ukraine's NATO membership as a "realistic" outcome of peace negotiations.
Moreover, US President Donald Trump said that he considers Ukraine’s NATO membership to be unlikely or impractical.
Support for joining the EU and NATO among Ukrainians remains consistently high: at the beginning of 2025, 69% support joining the EU, and 67% are in favor of joining NATO.
