Ukrainians will not forget the missile strikes from Belarusian territory at the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. The self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, will have to pay for it, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during a briefing.
"Lukashenko has become very talkative in the media. We don’t need his kindness toward the Ukrainian people when rockets are flying at 4:00 a.m.," the president said.
According to Zelenskyy, the Belarusian dictator "will still pay for what he has done."
"If he thinks that with his words he can somehow erase our memory — we are young people, and we remember everything very well," he noted.
The Ukrainian leader added that no one will forget that Lukashenko allowed an attack from his territory at the start of the full-scale war.
Belarus supports Russia in the war in Ukraine
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Belarus has openly supported aggression against Ukraine. It provides the aggressor country with military infrastructure, airfields, and logistical assistance.
This year, joint two-week military exercises with Russia were held on Belarusian territory. Ukraine monitored the maneuvers, anticipating possible provocations from its neighbor.
Additionally, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko recently stated that in December, the Russian missile system Oreshnik will be put on combat duty. According to him, Belarus "will strike" if the situation "develops badly."
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Belarus said it is ready to deploy its "peacekeeping" troops in Ukraine if an “appropriate decision” is made.
Recently, dictator Lukashenko also claimed that his country is "open to Ukrainians" and ready to "provide them with the same life as Belarusians."
