President Zelenskyy met with (International Monetary Fund) IMF Director Kristalina Georgieva. It was part of a working trip to Washington, according to the website of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The President of Ukraine thanked the IMF for the timely and substantial assistance provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia.

"This great support is very important for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. In times of war, a secure financial system is critical," he said.

For her part, Kristalina Georgieva emphasized that the Foundation admires Ukraine's achievements in the war.

"Ukraine's economy is showing good results. This year we expect GDP growth of 4.5%. In the third quarter of 2023, GDP grew by 9.3% compared to the third quarter of 2022, which is simply incredible. In November, inflation dropped to 5.1%, which is a dream for many countries that are not at war," Georgieva said.

The President thanked for the decision of the IMF Board of Directors to allocate a tranche of $900 million to our country.

The parties also discussed attracting international financing to Ukraine in 2024. They also discussed how to continue working with international partners to mobilize financial support for Ukraine.

The need to create an effective mechanism for using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine was raised. Such a mechanism could provide Ukraine with alternative budgetary support and investments needed to rebuild the country.
