President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso, according to the President's Office.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is interested in continuing cooperation with the EBRD, particularly in the areas of energy security, trade financing, support for critical infrastructure and municipalities, food security, the corporate sector, and more.

"Thank you for the unwavering and steadfast support," added the president.

EBRD's projects

The chief of the EBRD, on her part, noted that Ukraine's economy has stabilized and continues to operate in a significant part of the country's territory. She mentioned discussions with the Ukrainian government and the Prime Minister on preparations for the winter period.

According to her, the bank intends to focus on projects in the private sector, including increasing production capacity in agriculture. The EBRD also collaborates with banks in financing small- and medium-sized businesses, including risk insurance.

Renaud-Basso said that the EBRD is working on increasing its authorized capital, which will enable additional funding for Ukraine's reconstruction.

Cooperation with the EBRD

In June, the EBRD decided to provide a 200 million euro loan to Ukrzaliznytsia (state transport company) for the modernization of the railway connection between Ukraine and the European Union.

Later, it changed the allocation of the loan to the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine. Funds in the amount of 182 million euros will be used to modernize the Lviv - Rava-Ruska section of the road on the Ukraine-Poland border.

Recently, the EBRD confirmed its May forecast for the growth of Ukraine's economy in 2023-2024.
