Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged US President Donald Trump to help secure permission for Ukraine's Defense Forces to use the Starlink satellite internet system inside Russia, The Atlantic reports.

According to media reports, the Ukrainian leader first made this request during a meeting at the White House on July 28. However, nothing had been publicly known about it until now.

Zelenskyy explained to Trump that the Defense Forces need permission to use the Starlink system on Russian territory to destroy enemy ballistic missile launchers.

The President of Ukraine believes that the head of the White House is the one who can quickly resolve this issue with billionaire and SpaceX owner Elon Musk.

At the same time, it should be understood that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can currently use Starlink only on their own territory, including Crimea and other regions occupied by Russia. Meanwhile, Musk has restricted the use of Starlink on the territory of the aggressor state.

During the meeting at the White House, Zelenskyy explained to Trump how important it is for Ukraine to destroy small and mobile targets on Russian territory, particularly ballistic missile launchers. As is well known, the Russian army regularly uses them to terrorize the Ukrainian civilian population.

Insiders also claim that the President of Ukraine sought a meeting with Musk while he was in the United States. However, the billionaire declined the invitation.

Trump, for his part, did not reject Zelenskyy's request and promised to consider it. Therefore, there is a possibility that the head of the White House will still try to reach an agreement with Musk on expanding Starlink's capabilities for Ukraine.

Earlier, it became known why the presidents' meeting at the White House was rated "8 out of 10."
