Zelenskyy to join G7 leaders' summit online
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will join the video summit with the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) on Wednesday, December 6, announces Japanese government spokesperson Hirokazu Matsuno.
"On the evening of the 6th, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, as the head of the G7, plans to conduct online negotiations with the leaders of the G7. In addition to the G7 leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will participate at the beginning of the meeting," Matsuno stated.
According to him, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other leaders intend to discuss issues important to the international community, including the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, and artificial intelligence.
Japan holds the presidency of the G7 this year. In May, the G7 summit took place in Hiroshima, where Zelensky personally participated.
Support for Ukraine from G7 countries
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, G7 partners have supported Ukraine on all possible fronts. In total, over the course of almost two years, more than $30 billion has been provided.
Media reports have also indicated that the Group of Seven (G7) countries will continue to freeze Russian assets until Ukraine receives compensation for the damage inflicted on it as a result of the war.
