Zelenskyy issues orders to Commander-in-Chief to strengthen air defense
The Ukrainian command is to present an updated structure of air defense operations. Also, new requests for supplies will be formed for partners, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Head of State said that work is underway on the configuration of air defense systems to provide the Kharkiv region and other regions of the country with more protection from Russian attacks.
“Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi (Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi - ed.), who participated in the meetings today, and the relevant commanders should present an updated structure of our air defense systems and new requests for partners - what exactly we should provide by the end of this year,” Zelenskyy said.
He also said that today there was a report by the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrii Hnatov. He spoke about the defense of the east of the country, the actions of Ukrainian soldiers, and combat capabilities.
What preceded it
Air defense systems are currently one of Ukraine's key requests for partners. They are needed to protect the sky from Russian drones and missiles.
In particular, Ukraine is asking its partners to provide additional Patriot air defense systems, as they can destroy ballistic missiles.
In recent months, Germany, Romania, and the United States have announced the transfer of Patriot to Ukraine.
On July 29, the United States announced two packages of military assistance to Ukraine, which included, among other things, ammunition for NASAMS systems.
