Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is currently planning to personally attend the NATO Summit, which will take place on June 24–25 in The Hague. However, a final decision will be made closer to the event, states a source in the Office of the President of Ukraine, according to AFP.

"The decision will be made on the eve of the summit. This is just the schedule," the source noted.

The agency's interlocutor also emphasized that the meeting of Alliance leaders is "an opportunity to maintain support and promote a ceasefire."

NATO diplomats and officials say Zelenskyy has been invited to the official dinner for leaders hosted by the King of the Netherlands on the evening of June 24, which is also expected to be attended by US President Donald Trump.

Zelenskyy is also likely to attend a forum on the defense industry to be held on the sidelines of the summit.

At the same time, there will be no official working meeting between the Ukrainian president and the 32 NATO leaders, as there was at the previous Alliance summit in Washington.

Zelenskyy wants NATO to offer Ukraine security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire or a peace agreement with Russia — something Moscow has called "unacceptable."

Zelenskyy’s invitation to the NATO Summit

The upcoming NATO Summit will take place in The Hague (Netherlands) on June 24–25. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to the meeting and has personally confirmed his attendance.

However, as reported today by The Times, Zelenskyy was invited to the summit under an adjusted diplomatic status. This was reportedly done to avoid any potentially awkward encounters with US President Donald Trump.

A source in the Ukrainian presidential office confirmed that Zelenskyy had planned to personally attend the summit. The Ukrainian president is also expected to be present at the dinner hosted by the King of the Netherlands on Tuesday evening.

It was also noted that the summit communiqué will once again refer to Russia as a "direct threat," but previous statements about Ukraine having an "irreversible" path to NATO membership will not be repeated.
