President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not want to hold his position for 30 or 35 years, because at the end of his path he wants to preserve the respect of others and his self-respect, according to the BBC film "Zelenskyy. His Story."

“I am not Putin. I will not be president for 30 years or however many, 35 years. I will not. Believe me. And that means I have to go through this job and preserve respect, my own self-respect. That is very important to me,” noted Zelenskyy.

The President of Ukraine also emphasized that preserving respect is crucial for his family and his children.

“And for me it’s important to help Ukraine do everything possible and in the best way,” added the head of state.

When elections may be held in Ukraine

According to legislation, presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine may take place only after the end of martial law.

In June, the Speaker of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine that Ukraine is preparing for elections after the end of martial law.

He clarified even then that these will not be ordinary, but unique elections that will require a separate law.

Later, it was also reported that the Verkhovna Rada is working on creating a special draft law for holding elections after the war.

“We are preparing different basic scenarios so that people can exercise their fundamental constitutional right to vote. And it must happen in Ukraine. And it seems to me that we will be able to find this right legislative compromise,” added Stefanchuk.
