President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes that the administration of US President Joe Biden will have time to bring Ukraine's NATO invitation closer. However, the alliance leaders will only accept a consolidated signal positively.

According to him, the meeting of NATO foreign ministers on December 3-4 in Brussels could be a window of opportunity for Ukraine, but there have been many such windows. However, the Ukrainian side would like recommendations from the ministers regarding the invitation to join the Alliance.

“But there are no illusions. There are the same skeptical countries, and the United States is, unfortunately, on this list. I don't know if Biden will recommend it. But as far as I know, Secretary Blinken's vision is more positive. But there is a German side, a Hungarian side,” Zelenskyy said.

He also noted that only a consolidated signal can be positively received by all NATO leaders. And next week will not be the last opportunity for Ukraine, and in any case, we must count on the next steps.

The current US administration has two months left. It has influence over the few European skeptics. I do not see, and most NATO countries do not see, any risks from recommendations for a positive future NATO membership for Ukraine. This is not even an invitation,” Zelenskyy added.

As Bloomberg reported, Joe Biden's administration considered publicly calling for an official invitation to Ukraine. But it decided not to because of the low probability of success.

However, before the ministerial meeting in Brussels, the discussion intensified. In particular, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly recently passed a resolution calling for Ukraine's accession to be expedited, and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged his Western counterparts to agree on an invitation at a meeting on December 3-4.
