President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European leaders to coordinate their positions ahead of talks with US President Donald Trump, according to the President.

"Our main goal is a reliable and lasting peace for Ukraine and for the whole of Europe. And it is important that the momentum of all our meetings lead to precisely this result," Zelenskyy said.

He stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin should not be expected to abandon aggression or new attempts at conquest.

Therefore, according to Zelenskyy, pressure must continue to work, and it must be joint pressure from the US, Europe, and all in the world who respect the right to life and the international order.

"We must stop the killings, and I thank our partners who are working toward this and ultimately toward a reliable and dignified peace. Together with the leaders of Finland, the United Kingdom, Italy, the European Commission, and the NATO Secretary General, we coordinated our positions ahead of the meeting with President Trump," he added.

Zelenskyy also underlined that Ukraine is ready for a real ceasefire and the creation of a new security architecture.

"We need peace," the President repeated.

Trump-Zelenskyy meeting

Today, August 18, President Zelenskyy will hold talks with Trump at the White House, after which European leaders are expected to join them.

The parties are set to discuss in detail the terms of a peace agreement, which the US President discussed earlier with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, and to determine the next steps toward achieving peace.

Earlier, it was reported that Zelenskyy would meet with European leaders before negotiations with Trump.
