Zelenskyy holds talks with Emir of Kuwait and King of Bahrain
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held phone conversations with the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, according to Zelenskyy's reports on X.
Conversation with the Emir of Kuwait
"I am grateful to Kuwait for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as key UNGA resolutions, and for providing timely energy aid and generators for the winter period," he says.
During the conversation, Zelenskyy told the Emir of Kuwait about countering the missile terror that Russia resumed during the New Year holidays. The leaders also discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy and agricultural sectors.
"Ukraine makes every effort to restore just peace. We ensure the freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and remain a global food security guarantor," Zelenskyy says.
He adds that Ukraine is actively working on the next steps to implement the peace formula.
In addition, Zelenskyy says that he had invited Kuwait to send a representative to the next meeting of advisers in Davos and to participate in the preparation of the upcoming Global Peace Summit.
Conversation with the King of Bahrain
For his part, Zelenskyy says that the talks with the King of Bahrain were the first conversation in the history of bilateral relations.
"Last year, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister paid his first visit to Ukraine. I am confident that the contacts at the highest level will mark the beginning of a new chapter in our relations," he adds.
Zelenskyy and the Bahraini leader discussed bilateral cooperation, global food security, and support for the peace formula.
He also thanked the Bahraini representative for his participation in previous meetings of the advisors on the implementation of the peace formula and invited him to the next meeting to be held in Davos.
Zelenskyy also spoke about efforts to ensure global food stability.
Ukrainian peace formula
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy first initiated it during his speech at the G20 summit. In particular, it provides for:
- radiation and nuclear safety (withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, rejection of nuclear threats);
- food security (expansion of the grain initiative);
- energy security;
- release of all prisoners and deportees (release under the "all for all" formula);
- implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of territorial integrity and world order;
- withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities;
- justice;
- ecocide, the need to immediately protect nature;
- prevention of escalation;
- fixing the end of the war.
